You are invited to join us on Zoom to celebrate the launch of our new exhibition The Spirit of Beads: Sharing our Stories Opening virtually with messages from the exhibition team Sunday October 25, 2020 at 2:00pmThe Spirit of Beads: Sharing our Stories is presented by the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto and Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch. The exhibit is a celebration of Ukrainian and Indigenous beadwork, incorporating historical and contemporary pieces.The exhibition begins with the history of the bead trade in North America and Ukraine, tracing the origin of beads from natural materials such as stones, shells, and bones, to commercially-manufactured beads. It also highlights contemporary beadwork artists who demonstrate how beadwork re-invents and expresses past and present understandings of cultural identity.Please register at the link below to attend:
